Jennifer and Trevor Mader live in an old New Toronto home with their son Leo. Jennifer is the Digital Marketing Manager at House & Home and Trevor co-owner of HPG Sales, a successful family run HVAC business. Both love to spend afternoons cooking and baking while watching Leo run around.

After years of major renovations to their old home, the complete kitchen makeover was by far the most inspiring and was what made their home feel complete. Now they spend the majority of their time there enjoying the space with friends and family.

The original design had a cut out in the wall separating the dining room from the kitchen and although it helped visually to open the space, the kitchen was too small to entertain guests, let alone keep an eye on their active toddler. The decision was made to remove the dividing wall and merge the two rooms together creating a larger layout.

Fairfax Anthracite cabinets are decorated with antique brass hardware and are contrasted with the white Ceasarstone counters and milk glass tile backsplash. The homeowners opted for a transitional style of cabinetry made more contemporary by using floating shelves to house their dishes. Plenty of storage is integrated into the design including two appliance garages with glass display cabinets above, helping free the counter of clutter. A buffet and attached banquette run along the wall of the dining area and not only provide added storage for specialty items, but also additional seating at their kitchen table.
